PPG They are 4th in the nation and Texas is 10th.
YPG They are 9th in the nation and Texas is 4th.

The Horns actually held Oklahoma to 14 less yards than Nebraska, but gave up 10 more points.

Yes. Nebraska's D is starting to look a little scary.

Well, every defense starts to look a little scary when Landry Jones is at the helm.

Guess all this goes to show that Bradford really did deserve the Heisman last year.

Is that the excuse you use for Ou mustering a field goal. Kind of reminds me of USC against the Huskies...

After nine games, Texas leads in total defense, pass defense and defense against the run. Oklahoma is second in total defense. Texas has given up a few more points than Nebraska for the simple reason that seven of its nine games were blow-outs and Brown routinely empties his bench in the fourth quarter giving up some trash points. Nebraska has had but three laughers; in the other six games the first string defense was used throughout.

Data are available in Big 12 stats at the conference website.

Texas played UCF and ZERO ranked teams in non-conference! Based on who they have played and points allowed and NOT playing STARTERS ENTIRE game vs UCF, NU has the best defense in the Big 12. Football is based on SCORING and PREVENTING SCORES, not YARDS! NU is #1 in the Big 12 and #2 natonally in scoring defense! UT fans harped on that last year when they were 51st in total D and 17 in scoring D! NU has no offense at all and that makes their #1 scoring defense all the more impressive!!!

If the blackshirts are the best in the Big 12, then how do you explain this?

You do realize that it takes players on both offense AND defense to win the game, right? A good defense does not make a good team overall. You have to have both. Why, you ask? Like mentioned above, see the Iowa State - Nebraska game.

A man and his son walk into the local Norman breakfast establishment.

Son: Dad, who is that man sitting at the table over there?
Father: Why son, that's legendary Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops. Why do you ask?
Son: Dad, why is he eating his cereal off of a plate?
Father: Well, son, that's because if it was in a bowl, he would lose it.

Nebraska is third in total defense in the Big 12. Scoring is certainly part of football. Shall we look at offense? Be delighted to.
